Hey we’re going to meet at Grace at 5:30pm this Sunday (2/3) and head over to the Mostellers to watch the big game between the New York Giants (yay!) and the (approaching perfection) New England Patriots (boo!). This guy is going to rock the halftime show, which I’m pretty excited about.
See you there!

This Wednesday, you will get the chance to hear from a former Compassion-sponsored child. Originally from Uganda, Olive now lives in Chattanooga and will be speaking at Fellowship Bible Church on Dug Gap Road from 6-8pm. This is an especially great opportunity for Graceworx, because we support two Compassion kids: Deylin is a 6-year old boy from Nicaragua and Glenda is a 5-year old girl from El Salvador. At this presentation we can hear examples of how the money we give each month goes to benefit these children both physically and spiritually. Jesus loves children, and he loves the poor. He has called his people (us) to relieve their suffering in His name and share His Gospel with them. Compassion is one way that we do that!
We’re going to meet AT FELLOWSHIP at 6pm Wednesday night. See you there!
Graceworx High School Parents:
Some of the details of the summer mission project are still up in the air. But we have dates: July 5-12, 2008. And we need to proceed with our planning, fundraising, and getting our deposits in. We need to get our team together to do those things. If you would like your student to be a part of this project, this is a reminder that a $100 deposit is due this Wednesday, January 16. If there are reasons you cannot get your deposit in, but want your student to go, please simply let me know - I want as many of our high-schoolers to get the opportunity to go as possible!
If I can be of any assistance at all, please contact me at the church, on my cell phone, or via e-mail. Or you can even place a comment on this blog if you prefer. Thanks!

Graceworx Students:
Do you have different priorities from your Non-Christian friends? Do you have a different attitude toward media, sex, morality, or your parents? Do you respond differently when someone wrongs you? Do you have a different view of yourself and your place in God’s world? We don’t ask ourselves these questions very often, if ever. But the Bible is very clear that as followers of Jesus Christ, we are supposed to be fundamentally different from those who are still in darkness. That doesn’t mean that we are supposed to withdraw from them or condemn them. Not at all! In fact, we are supposed to engage them with the love of Christ. We are supposed to come alongside them, love them, and shine the light of Christ into their lives. But if we have the same priorities, the same attitudes, and the same habits as those who are in darkness, how can we possibly shed light on their situation? We become salt that has lost its saltiness and lamps that are hidden under a bowl (see Matthew 5:13-17). Our calling as followers of Jesus Christ is to be in the world, but not of the world. And that’s what our 2008 Know.Grow.Show. Retreat is all about. We will meet here at the church on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 5pm. There will be games, prizes, fun, food, and opportunities for you to be challenged and encouraged spiritually. Wes Parsons will be down from St. Louis to lead Know.Grow.Show.The retreat cost is only $15, and for that you get a t-shirt, three meals, devotional materials, a place to sleep, and Lord willing some life-changing truth! I hope I will see you then – and maybe you’ll even bring a friend?
